Ashraf Guizani (°1991) is a Tunisian jihadi who was appointed as the leader of the Soldiers of the Caliphate in Tunisia [JaKI; Jund al-Khilafa fi-Ifriqiya] in the summer of 2019 following the death of his predecessor Houssem Thelithi earlier in March.¹ He previously served on the organization’s leadership council.² The Tunisian authorities issued public search announcements for him in October 2018 and May 2019.³

Under Guizani’s command, the JaKI tries to maintain its jihadi campaign. The outfit has been responsible for minor attacks against security forces in the Tunisian highlands.⁴ The JaKI was also tied to the September 2020 knife attack in Sousse that left one paramilitary policeman dead.⁵ On Dec. 11, 2020, Guizani was designated as an international terrorist by the American government.⁶
