The Group of Revenge Rebels [OAE; Omáda Antártes Ekdíkisis] was an Athens-based anarchist militant entity that was active in the spring of 2022. On Mar. 18, members of the outfit detonated a small bomb at an apartment building in the capital city’s Melissia suburb.1 The attackers targeted a policeman but left the explosive device at the wrong address.2 On Apr. 03, the OAE struck again when it planted a bomb outside the residence of an investigative judge in the Ilisia neighborhood of Athens.3 The device failed to go off.

On Jun. 01, 2022, the OAE published a statement on a left-wing extremist website in which it asserted responsibility for the two incidents.4 The outfit claimed to avenge the “destruction”, “misery” and “suppression” of the people by the state and the “regime alliance” consisting of “police officers, investigators, prosecutors and journalists”. The OAE reported to have targeted the officer for his role in thwarting an escape attempt by imprisoned anarchist terrorist Fotis Tziotis. The group furthermore threatened the judge with assassination.5
