Militant Incidents in Tunisia (Oct. – Dec. 2015)

1. Oct. 08 – Terrorists fired at Ridha Charfeddine, a member of parliament for the nationalist NT party, as he was driving his car in the Sousse governorate. The politician was not hurt in the incident. [AP & Jaw]
2. Oct. 11 – Militants abducted two herdsmen on Mount Semmama, in the Kasserine governorate. The terrorists shot and killed one of the herders, while the other captive was released. [Jaw, Mos & TAP]
3. Oct. 12 – Two soldiers were killed and four colleagues were wounded in clashes with a band of militants during operations on Mount Semmama, in the Kasserine governorate. [Jaw, Mos & TAP]
4. Oct. 12 – A group of militants raided a house in Zouaouda, in the Kasserine governorate. The assailants cut the tongue of a child after it started shouting for help during the incident. [Jaw & Mos]
5. Oct. 14 – An Islamist assailant hurled four homemade incendiary bombs at the house of a police chief in Guetar, in the Gafsa governorate. [Mos]
6. Oct. 24 – The entrance of an arts center was torched by an Islamist thug in the city of Kairouan. No one was hurt in the incident. [Jaw]
7. Nov. 05 – A labor union activist was injured in a knife attack by an unidentified assailant in the town of Jendouba. [Mos]
8. Nov. 05 – Suspected racist thugs assaulted and wounded a Cameroonian student in the Aouiana suburb of Tunis. No further information was available. [Jaw]
9. Nov. 14 – Terrorists abducted a youth as he was herding sheep and subsequently beheaded him on Mount Mghila, in the Sidi Bouzid governorate. The terrorists accused the victim of spying for the army and sent the youth’s head to his family. The JaKI claimed responsibility for the killing. [Jaw, Reut & TAP]
10. Nov. 15 – One soldier was killed in a gun battle between a group of militants and Tunisian troops conducting operations on Mount Mghilla, in the Sidi Bouzid governorate. A terrorist was eliminated in the encounter. [Jaw & Mos]
11. Nov. 17 – Several terrorists pillaged the house of an elderly man in Aïn Madour, in the Sidi Bouzid governorate. Nobody was hurt in the attack. [Jaw]
12. Nov. 21 – Militants raided and plundered a house in the village of Mazrek Chams, in the Kasserine governorate. No one was hurt in the incident. [Jaw]
13. Nov. 24 – A suicide bomber blew himself up next to a bus carrying members of the presidential guard in central Tunis. Twelve soldiers were killed and sixteen colleagues were wounded in the attack. Four civilians were also hurt in the blast. The DaISN claimed responsibility for the incident. [AP, Jaw & Mos]
14. Dec. 09 – Three soldiers sustained injuries during a gun battle between a group of terrorists and an army unit on Mount Chaâmbi, in the Kasserine governorate. [Jaw & Mos]
15. Dec. 18 – A local government office was set on fire by unidentified assailants in the city of Bizerte. No one was hurt in the incident. [Jaw]
16. Dec. 28 – A police officer was assaulted and injured by three Islamist thugs in the village of Mrazik, in the Kairouan governorate. [Jaw]
