Militant Incidents in Tunisia (Oct. – Dec. 2014)

1. Oct. 13 – A park ranger was seriously wounded in a landmine explosion on Mount Ouergha, in the Kef governorate. No further information was available. [Bab & TAP]
2. Oct. 13 – Salafi Islamist militants hurled several firebombs at an office of the nationalist NT party in Rouhia, in the Siliana governorate. [Mos]
3. Oct. 23 – Two soldiers were wounded when a military foot patrol was hit in a landmine explosion in Sakièt Sidi Youssef, in the Kef governorate. [AP, Bab & TAP]
4. Oct. 23 – A soldier was killed and a colleague was injured in a gun battle between militants who had barricaded themselves in a house and security forces in Oued Ellil, in the Manouba governorate. Six terrorists were eliminated in the clash. [AP & TAP]
5. Oct. 29 – Militants clashed with security personnel during a gun battle near Azaiez, in the Jendouba governorate. No one was hurt in the encounter. [TAP]
6. Nov. 05 – Five soldiers were killed and ten colleagues were wounded when terrorists ambushed an army bus near Nebeur, in the Kef governorate. The KUIN claimed responsibility for the attack. [Mos, TAP & TL]
7. Nov. 30 – A group of terrorists abducted a soldier after intercepting his car near Touiref, in the Kef governorate. The hostage was beheaded shortly afterwards. The incident was attributed to the KUIN. [Bab, Mos, TAP & TL]
8. Dec. 01 – A soldier was killed and a colleague was wounded when an army vehicle was struck in a landmine explosion on Mount Semmama, in the Kasserine governorate. [Bab, Mos & TAP]
9. Dec. 06 – A band of unidentified assailants set fire to an office of the nationalist NT party in Alaâ, in the Kairouan governorate. No one was hurt in the incident. [Mos]
10. Dec. 20 – Gunmen opened fire at a polling station in Haffouz, in the Kairouan governorate, injuring a soldier and sparking a shootout with soldiers guarding the facility. One of the assailants was eliminated in the incident. [Bab, Mos, Reut & TAP]
11. Dec. 22 – Groups of thugs set fire to an army post and a police station during protests by supporters of parties that had lost the elections in Hammet, in the Gabès governorate. [TAP]
12. Dec. 22 – Thugs set fire to an office of the nationalist NT party during protests by backers of parties that had lost the elections in Mareth, in the Gabès governorate. [Mos]
13. Dec. 22 – Unknown assailants hurled a firebomb at an office of the nationalist NT party in the town of Kébili. No one was hurt in the incident. [Mos]
