Seifeddine Jammali (°1991) was a jihadi from Tunisia’s Sidi Bouzid governorate.1 Prior to his radicalization, he went to university and was interested in the arts. Jammali once painted and made music.2 He later became attracted to radical Salafism. Jammali joined the Brigade of Uqba Bin Nafa’a [KUIN; Katibat Uqba Ibn Nafaâ], before switching allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant [DaIISh; Dawlat al-Islamiya fi-Iraq wal ash-Sham]. In December 2014, he was injured in gun battles with the Tunisian army on Mount Chaâmbi, in the Kasserine governorate.3 Some sources wrongly reported his death following the clashes.4

Jammali became an important commander in the Soldiers of the Caliphate in Tunisia [JaKI; Jund al-Khilafa fi-Ifriqiya] soon after its formation.5 He was also responsible for the outfit’s public relations.6 In that capacity, Jammali directed a group of female radicals who spread propaganda on social media and the internet.7 The Tunisian authorities arrested several of his subordinates in November 2015.8

Tunisian security forces reportedly eliminated Jammali during a clash on Mount Mghila on May 18, 2016.9 The authorities were allegedly tipped off on his whereabouts by a cadre of the rival KUIN.10
