Adel Saïdi (º1990) is a little-known Tunisian Islamist militant and a former senior operative of the secret armed wing of the Partisans of Shari’a in Tunisia [AST; Ansar Achariaâ].1 As Tunisia’s government started cracking down on the AST in the summer of 2013, Saïdi became a wanted man. On Aug. 05, 2013, security forces raided his home.2 He was killed when police eventually caught up with him and raided his hideout in a Tunis suburb on Sep. 09, 2013.3

Little information is known about Saïdi’s activities with the AST. He was known to have been in close contact with many of the movement’s senior members, including Mohammed Aouadi. Saïdi was also believed to have been a long-time associate of Ahmed Rouïssi.4 He reportedly met many of his associates at AST training camps in Libya.5
