  1. Jan. 02 – The security guard of a school was shot to death by gunmen as he was riding his motorcycle in the Johirong district of the Narathiwat province. [BP]
  2. Jan. 06 – A soldier was wounded in a gun battle between militants and paramilitary forces who intercepted their vehicle in Narathiwat‘s Johirong district. Two terrorists were eliminated in the shootout. [BP & Nat]
  3. Jan. 09 – RKK terrorists opened fire at security forces who raided an Islamic seminary in which they were holed up in the Mayo district of the Pattani province, sparking a gun battle in which three of the militants were eliminated. [BP & Nat]
  4. Jan. 14 – A bomb fitted to a motorcycle exploded as the vehicle of a local government official passed by in the Chanae district of the Narathiwat province. Four defense volunteers sustained injuries in the blast. [BP]
  5. Jan. 14 – A member of the provincial council was shot and seriously wounded by a gunman as he got out of his car at his company’s offices in the Bang Buathong district of the Nonthaburi district. [BP]

  8. Jan. 26 – Gunmen sprayed gunfire at a defense volunteers’ post in Narathiwat‘s Yingo district. Nobody was hurt in the attack. [BP & Nat]
  9. Jan. 26 – Motorcycle-borne militants fired shots at a defense volunteers’ post in the Bacho district of the Narathiwat province. No casualties were reported in the incident. [BP & Nat]
  10. Jan. 27 – A bomb went off as policemen arrived for duty at an outpost in the Muang district of the Yala province. Three police officers were wounded in the attack. [BP & Nat]
  11. Jan. 28 – A roadside bomb exploded as an army patrol passed by in the Muang district of the Pattani province. No one was hurt in the incident. [BP & Nat]
  12. Jan. 28 – Terrorists opened fire at bakery workers outside their shop in the Rueso district of the Narathiwat province, killing one of them and wounding two others. The victims hailed from the province of Surin. [Nat]
