Militant Incidents in Thailand (June 2014)

1. Jun. 01 – A policeman was killed when gunmen ambushed his car in the Thungyang Daeng district of the Pattani province. A bystander was wounded in the shooting. [BP]
2. Jun. 01 – A civilian was killed when militants ambushed a pickup truck in the Nongchik district of the Pattani province. [BP]
3. Jun. 01 – Militants clashed with police personnel during a gun battle in Pattani‘s Thungyang Daeng district. Nobody was injured in the encounter. [BP]
4. Jun. 01 – Gunmen shot and killed two defense volunteers as they were watching a soccer match in the Rangae district of the Narathiwat province. [BP]
5. Jun. 03 – A rubber tapper was shot and killed by terrorists at his house in the Bannang Sata district of the Yala province. [Nat]

10. Jun. 15 – A civilian was killed and two others were wounded when gunmen shot them outside a grocery store in Pattani‘s Khokpho district. [BP]
11. Jun. 16 – Two defense volunteers sustained injuries when their patrol was hit in a roadside bomb blast in the Johirong district of the Narathiwat province. [BP]
12. Jun. 16 – A trader was killed and his wife was wounded when militants shot them inside their grocery shop in the Thepa district of the Songkhla province. [BP]
13. Jun. 16 – A roadside bomb exploded as two police vehicles passed by in the Chanae district of the Narathiwat province, killing a passer-by. A defense volunteer was hurt in the blast. [BP]
14. Jun. 19 – Attackers detonated a roadside bomb as an army patrol passed by in the Nongchik district of the Pattani province. Two soldiers sustained injuries in the attack. [MCOT]

16. Jun. 21 – Terrorists shot and killed an army informer as he arrived home in Pattani‘s Panare district. [BP]

19. Jun. 24 – Gunmen shot and killed a Buddhist man outside a grocery shop in the Yaring district of the Pattani province. The assailants subsequently burnt the dead body of the victim. [BP]
20. Jun. 28 – Militants opened fire at a police patrol in Narathiwat‘s Takbai district, killing two officers and wounding two bystanders. The attack sparked a brief gun battle. [BP & Nat]
