Mohammed al-Hilal was a Sudanese immigrant to Slovakia who turned to jihad in the mid-2010s. He was an associate of Samer Shehadeh and used his contacts with the Support Front of the People of the Levant [JaNS; Jabhat al-Nusra li-Ahl al-Sham] to join the organization in May 2016.1 Hilal underwent training and later fought in the ranks of the JaNS against the Syrian army in the Idlib governorate.2 He was soon promoted to command one of the group’s frontline units.3 Hilal died in clashes with the army on Apr. 04, 2017.4
