The Dimitris Danklis Proletarian Cell [PPDD; Proletariakós Pyrínas Dimítris Danklís] was a Greek anarchist entity named after a worker who died in an accident at the port of Pireaus. On Oct. 06, 2021, operatives of the outfit set fire to the car of senior leader of the fascist CA party Eleni Zaroulia in the Pefki suburb of Athens.1

In mid-December 2021, the PPDD asserted responsibility for the action in a statement posted on left-wing extremist websites. The attackers denounced the Greek state for the “barbaric and murderous” way it manages the coronavirus pandemic and blamed the “capitalist system” for “destroying and polluting the environment” and thereby allegedly “causing of the pandemic”. The PPDD claimed that government measures to combat the epidemic were masking an “all-out attack” on the working class that “condemns people to poverty” and “degrades social services”. It blamed several recent episodes of fascist violence in Greece on these policies.

Despite its name, the PPDD did not appear to have been particularly motivated by working conditions in the port of Pireaus. The attack preceded the deadly accident and the outfit did not mention the incident in its claim of responsibility.
