The Proletarian Nucleus [PP; Proletariakós Pyrínas] was an Athens-based left-wing extremist militant outfit whose operatives attacked a children’s clothes shop and a gym owned by the wife of Greek deputy emergency management minister Nikos Hardalias in the Vyronas suburb on May 23, 2021.1 Both businesses sustained damage in the action. The PP asserted responsibility for the attacks in a statement posted on an anarchist website on Jul. 28, 2021.2 The militants claimed to have targeted the minister for his role in managing the coronavirus pandemic in Greece. They accused the government of launching a “violent class and social attack on workers and young people” under the guise of confronting the health crisis. In the communiqué, the PP also claimed to have attacked the residence of the vice president of an electricity company, although no such incident was reported in the press.
