The PAD’s Elizaveta Kovalskaya Core [PAD-PEK; Pyrínas Elisavet Kovalskaya] was a Thessaloniki-based affiliate of the Direct Action Cells [PAD; Pyrínes Ámesis Drásis]. The cell was named after a nineteenth-century Russian revolutionary. On Mar. 13, 2021, the outfit posted a communiqué on a left-wing extremist website in which it claimed to have targeted the home of a policeman in an arson attack in Thessaloniki Sykiés suburb on Feb. 26. The alleged incident went unreported in the Greek press. The PAD-PEK reported to have acted in support of the hunger strike of Dimitris Koufondinas, an imprisoned operative of the former November 17 Revolutionary Organization [17N; Epanastatikí Orgánosi Dekaefta Noémvri].
