The PAD’s Casus Belli Cell [PAD-PCB; PAD – Pyrínas Casus Belli] was an incarnation of the Direct Action Cells [PAD; Pyrínes Ámesis Drásis] whose operatives were behind the Dec. 31, 2021 incendiary bomb attack on the entrance of a building that houses the offices of a construction company in Thessaloniki’s Kalamaria suburb.1 The action caused minor damage. The attackers claimed responsibility for the action in a statement posted on anarchist websites the following day. They reported having targeted the firm because it was contracted to refurbish a university building that had just been cleared of left-wing extremist occupiers. The PAD-PCB denounced the renovation as a ploy to make a “sterile space in a deliberately degraded landscape to create the empty man of tomorrow who only serves the interests of the capitalist system”.
