The Mauricio Morales Noon Arson Group [OMEMM; Omáda Mesimvrinón Empristón Mauricio Morales] was a short-lived anarchist militant entity that was named after a Chilean left-wing extremist who died in a premature explosion of his bomb in 2009. Operatives set fire to the vehicle of the Italian honorary consul in the Toumba neighborhood of Thessaloniki on Jun. 20, 2019.1 The outfit asserted responsibility for the action in an e-mail sent to a local newspaper on Jul. 01, 2019.2 In its communiqué, the OMEMM denounced the rise of right-wing ‘totalitarianism” around the world. It claimed the have carried out the attack in solidarity with the hunger strike of Italian imprisoned anarchist terrorist Anna Beniamino and threatened further strikes against the interests of Italy if her health deteriorated.
