The Groups for the Spreading of Lawlessness [ODA; Omádes Diasporás tis Anomías] was a short-lived anarchist militant outfit based in Athens. On Dec. 10, 2019, operatives of the ODA detonated an incendiary bomb at a marina in the city’s Alimos suburb, severely damaging several yachts.1 On Dec. 12, the group set off similar devices at a café owned by spokesman for the conservative ND party Nikos Romanou and the entrance of an apartment building where a crime reporter lives at separate locations in Athens.2 The attackers also targeted a vehicle of a security company in the Peristeri suburb.

The ODA claimed responsibility for the incidents in a statement posted on an anarchist website on Dec. 18, 2019.3 In the communiqué, the outfit described its motivations for attacking each target.4 The marina was targeted because it served as a symbol of the “privileged entertainment of the elite” while the security company was attacked because it allegedly represents the “prelude of the private police of the neoliberal future”. The ODA furthermore aimed to protest “state violence” and “state propaganda” with the attacks against the politician and journalist. The group was not linked to the bombing of the car of a policeman in Athens’ Chalandri suburb that also took place on Dec. 12, 2019.5
