The MTA’s Core of the Proletarian Base [MTA-PPV; MTA – Pyrínas Proletariakís Vásis] was the first left-wing extremist cell to operate under the name of the Class Solidarity Front [MTA; Métopo Taxikís Allilengýis]. It was behind the Apr. 05, 2020 incident in which at least one attacker set fire to two vans belonging to different courier companies that were parked on a street in central Thessaloniki.1 A few days later, the MTA-PPV claimed to have been behind the action. The outfit accused the state and employers of misusing the coronavirus pandemic to force people to buy on the internet as a way to maximize profits during the crisis and denounced courier companies for exploiting their workers and exposing them to danger. It demanded an immediate end to unsafe working conditions for deliverers.
