The MTA’s Zero Tolerance Cell [MTA-PMA; MTA – Pyrínas Midenikís Anochís] was a communist cell that operated under the umbrella of the Class Solidarity Front [MTA; Métopo Taxikís Allilengýis]. Its members set fire to a vehicle of the Alumil construction materials firm in the city of Thessaloniki on Nov. 30, 2020.1 The MTA-PMA claimed responsibility for the incident in a statement posted on a left-wing extremist website on Dec. 15. The cell maintained that it acted in retaliation for the “intensifying exploitation” of the working class during the coronavirus pandemic. It argued that the “social genocide” can only be stopped through “direct confrontation” and advocated for the strengthening of the revolutionary resistance. On Jun. 12, 2021, the cell reappeared when it reported to have been behind the stoning of an office of the state electricity provider in Thessaloniki two days earlier.2

The MTA-PMA was a likely reincarnation of the MTA’s Workers’ Solidarity Cell [MTA-PErA; MTA – Pyrínas Ergatikís Allilengýis] that had attacked a vehicle of the company in the same suburb two weeks earlier.3 It was furthermore possibly connected to the MTA’s Core for Social Overthrow [MTA-PKA; MTA – Pyrínas Koinonikís Anatropís] that was behind two arson attacks on the state telecommunications firm in Ano Poli in late 2020.4
