The MTA’s Core for Social Overthrow [MTA-PKA; Pyrínas Koinonikís Anatropís] was a cell of communists that operated under the guise of the Class Solidarity Front [MTA; Métopo Taxikís Allilengýis]. It first appeared on Nov. 15, 2020 when its members burnt and destroyed a vehicle belonging to the OTE telecommunications corporation on a street in the Ano Poli suburb of Thessaloniki.1 On Dec. 04, another vehicle of the firm was damaged in an arson attack in the same area.2 The actions were claimed by the MTA-PKA in a communiqué distributed on the internet several days later.3 The outfit accused OTE of generating profit through the exploitation of its workers. It furthermore denounced the company for cooperating with Greek security forces and collaborating with the state to maintain and expand surveillance in the country. The MTA-PKA was likely linked to and possibly even comprised of the same people as the MTA’s Workers’ Solidarity Cell [MTA-PErA; MTA – Pyrínas Ergatikís Allilengýis] and the MTA’s Zero Tolerance Cell [MTA-PMA; MTA – Pyrínas Midenikís Anochís]. Both groups were behind similar arson attacks against corporate vehicles in Ano Poli in late 2020.4
