The MTA’s Workers’ Solidarity Cell [MTA-PErA; MTA – Pyrínas Ergatikís Allilengýis] was an apparent communist militant unit that was active under the name of the Class Solidarity Front [MTA; Métopo Taxikís Allilengýis]. It was behind the Nov. 14, 2020 arson attack on a vehicle of the Alumil construction materials producer in the Ano Poli suburb of Thessaloniki.1 Little over a week later, the MTA-PErA claimed responsibility for the action in a statement posted on a left-wing extremist website.2 In the communiqué, the outfit rejected “bourgeois supremacy over the proletarian base”, denounced the exploitation of Greek workers and decried the introduction of laws that “remove basic rights of the workers and labor union freedoms”. The cell furthermore called for the liberation of the working class and argued that maintaining current class relations during the coronavirus pandemic will result in “mass slaughter” and “social genocide of the entire exploited proletarian base”.
