The Black-Green Nihilists [MPM; Mavroprásinoi Midenistés] was a so-called green anarchist militant outfit that was briefly active in Athens. Its members set off an incendiary bomb outside a butcher shop in the Greek capital city’s Kypseli neighborhood, injuring an Albanian bystander.1 The MPM asserted responsibility in a communiqué posted on a left-wing extremist website on Jan. 07, 2019.2 The assailants claimed to have carried out the attack to protest the “capitalist” and “consumerist” use of animals as a resource for food, especially during the holiday season. The MPM acknowledged having caused unintentional injuries to a man but refused to apologize as “collateral casualties are unavoidable in war”.3 The MPM’s action followed sporadic acts of vandalism against butchers by anarchists in the neighborhood.4 It is unclear whether the outfit’s members were linked to these incidents.
