The Fighting Anarchist Impact Team [MAOK; Machómeni Anarchikí Omáda Kroúsis] was a left-wing extremist outfit whose members set a fire outside an officers’ club in the Cretan city of Rethymno on Dec. 14, 2015.¹ Firefighters extinguished the flames before they could wreak havoc on the building. The MAOK claimed responsibility for the incident in a statement published on an anarchist website.² The attackers claimed to have targeted the club in retaliation for recent arrests of fellow anarchists in Greece.
