The ELF’s Synapses for the Ignition of the Multifaceted Anarchist Struggle [ELF-SAPAA; ELF – Synápseis Anáflexis gia ton Polýmorfo Anarchikó Agóna] was a short-lived left-wing extremist outfit that presented itself as an Athens-based franchise of the Earth Liberation Front [ELF]. On Apr. 13, 2015, its members burnt a truck and two cars at the premises of a poultry factory in the Peristeri suburb of the Greek capital city.¹ The ELF-SAPAA asserted responsibility for the action in a statement posted on an anarchist website five days later. The group claimed to have carried out the attack in support of imprisoned members of the Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire [SPF; Synomosía ton Pyrínon tis Fotiás]. It stated that the fight against industries that commercialize the use of animals is part of the anarchist struggle against the state, capitalism and all forms of power structures. The ELF-SAPAA furthermore reported to have carried out the action on Easter because Christianity is used to affirm the power of those in charge.
