The Rebellious Extremists [AE; Anypótachtoi Extremistés] was a short-lived Greek anarchist outfit. Its members let an incendiary bomb go off at on a bank in Thessaloniki on Oct. 14, 2011.1 The AE was also responsible for the incendiary bomb blast outside a fifth-century Greek Orthodox church in the city on Oct. 29 which slightly damaged the historical building.2

On Nov. 01, 2011, both incidents were claimed by the AE in a badly written statement posted on a left-wing extremist website.3 The outfit reported having attacked the bank over the financial sector’s role in the Greek economic crisis and stated to have targeted the church because religion is a “for-profit enterprise”.4 The AE dedicated the action to an imprisoned member of the Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire [SPF; Synomosía ton Pyrínon tis Fotiás].5
