The AAO’s Cycle of Asymmetric Metropolitan War [AAO-KAMP; AAO – Kýklos Asýmmetrou Mitropolitikoú Polémou] was a short-lived anarchist militant outfit based in Athens. Its members set off a small bomb outside a court complex on Mar. 24, 2018. A neighbor notified police that she had heard an explosion, but officers initially found no signs that an attack had taken place.1 A few days later, the AAO-KAMP claimed responsibility for the action in a statement posted on a left-wing extremist website.2 Police again inspected the premises and this time found signs of a blast.3 In its nihilistic communiqué, the terrorists stated that they had the confront the “madness” of the existing power structure. They claimed that their hatred of the system compelled them to act even if it leads to “death or imprisonment”. The group furthermore expressed solidarity with several imprisoned anarchists.4
