The AAO’s Anti-Fascist Front (Crete) [AAO-AMC; AAO – Antifasistikó Métopo] was a left-wing extremist entity that operated under the name of the Greek branch of the Informal Anarchist Federation [AAO; Átypi Anarchikí Omospondía]. It was behind a Mar. 23, 2015 incident in which its operatives set fire to a back entrance of a courthouse in the city of Heraklion before planting an incendiary bomb at the site. The device exploded as policemen were trying to put out the flames, slightly injuring an officer.1 Later that day, the AAO-AMC claimed responsibility for the action in a statement published on an anarchist website.2 The outfit reported to have carried out the attack in support of a hunger strike by imprisoned members of the Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire [SPF; Synomosía ton Pyrínon tis Fotiás].3 The assailants were not believed to be connected to the similarly named outfit that attacked an office of the fascist CA party in Attika in 2012.
