The AAO’s Anti-Fascist Front (Crete) [AAO-AMC; AAO – Antifasistikó Métopo] was a left-wing extremist entity that operated under the name of the Greek branch of the Informal Anarchist Federation [AAO; Átypi Anarchikí Omospondía]. It was behind a Mar. 23, 2015 incident in which its operatives set fire to a back entrance of a courthouse in the city of Heraklion before planting an incendiary bomb at the site. The device exploded as policemen were trying to put out the flames, slightly injuring an officer.¹ Later that day, the AAO-AMC claimed responsibility for the action in a statement published on an anarchist website.² The outfit reported to have carried out the attack in support of a hunger strike by imprisoned members of the Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire [SPF; Synomosía ton Pyrínon tis Fotiás].³ The assailants were not believed to be connected to the similarly named outfit that attacked an office of the fascist CA party in Attika in 2012.
