The Martyr Ilan Dara Revenge Team [SIDRT] was a little-known militant entity made up of Normandy-based supporters of the People’s Protection Units [YPG; Yekîneyên Parastina Gel]. It was apparently behind the Apr. 11, 2018 arson attack on several Turkish businesses at a shopping center in the Blosne suburb of Rennes.1 Two eateries, a hair salon, a pharmacy and the hall of a Turkish association were destroyed or damaged in the incident

At first, the arson attack was attributed to local criminals.2 Almost two weeks later, the SIDRT reportedly claimed responsibility for the incident on social media. The assertion was subsequently confirmed by a website devoted to the anarchist “Fight for Afrin” campaign against Turkish interests in the wake of Turkey’s military offensive in northern Syria.3
