The Savage Individuals [IS; Individualités Sauvages] was a tiny cell of anarchist militants.¹ In July 2017, they destroyed a telecommunications pylon in an arson attack near Saint-Laurent-sous-Coiron, in the Ardèche department.² The incident disrupted radio and television service to approximately 165,000 people and left tens of thousands without telephone connections.³ The IS later asserted responsibility for the attack and protested against information technology.⁴ Following the incident, the IS was never heard from again.
