Yannick Lozach (°1966) is a little-known former French soldier and pro-Russian militant from New Caledonia.1 The trained paramedic got involved with a group of far-right extremists headed by Renaud Regeard while he lived in the southern French town of Tarbes during the early 2010s.2 Lozach became linked to Regeard’s Pyrenees Section [SP; Section Pyrénées] after it was formed in 2014.3 French security services reportedly put him under monitoring following weapons infractions.4

Lozach traveled to eastern Ukraine in the summer or fall of 2014 and linked up with Regeard and the Continental Unit [UC; Unité Continentale].5 Assisted by another SP element, he provided medical service to injured Russian separatist fighters.6 In January 2015, he sustained injuries when the Ukrainian army bombarded Russian militant positions near Mariupol.7 A few months later, Lozach gave an interview to UC companion Guillaume Cuvelier’s girlfriend who acted as a journalist.8

Lozach later became associated with the Don Cossack National Guard [KNG; Kazachya Natsionalnaya Gvardiya] He also might have become connected to the Serbian Hussars Regiment [SGP; Serbskiy Gusarskiy Polk]. From 2015 onwards, Lozach’s social media accounts went quiet. His current status is unknown.
