1. Jan. 03 – A roadside bomb went off as an ambulance passed by east of Arish, in the North Sinai governorate, injuring two medical workers. [Baw]
2. Jan. 03 – Militants detonated a roadside bomb as an army convoy passed by on the outskirts of Arish, in the North Sinai governorate. No one was hurt in the blast. The DaIWS claimed responsibility for the incident. [Baw]
3. Jan. 04 – A roadside bomb exploded as a police armored vehicle passed by in the city of Arish, in the North Sinai governorate, injuring one officer and a civilian. [Baw]
4. Jan. 05 – A police officer was shot dead by unknown assailants as he was riding home on his motorcycle in the Beni Suef governorate. An acquaintance was injured in the shooting. [Ahr, AM, Baw & DNE]
5. Jan. 05 – Gunmen opened fire at a military checkpoint in Sheikh Zuwaid, in the North Sinai governorate, sparking a shootout in which two of the attackers were eliminated. [Baw]

7. Jan. 07 – A segment of a gas pipeline was blown up by militants in the village of Midan, in the North Sinai governorate. The attack was claimed by the DaIWS. [AFP, Ahr, AP & Baw]
8. Jan. 07 – Terrorists opened fire at policemen who raided their apartment in the city of Asher, in the Sharqiya governorate, sparking a shootout in which three gunmen were eliminated. [Baw]
9. Jan. 08 – Militants stabbed and injured three tourists at the entrance of a hotel in Hurghada, in the Bahr el-Ahmar governorate. 10. Jan. 08 – A roadside bomb went off as a police vehicle passed by in the town of Rafah, in the North Sinai governorate, injuring three officers. [Ahr, Baw & MY]
11. Jan. 09 – Gunmen opened fire at the vehicle of a police chief in the Abu el-Nomors suburb of Giza, killing him and one of his officers. The DaIM claimed responsibility for the incident. [Ahr, AM, Baw, DNE & MY]
12. Jan. 10 – Cadres of the DaIWS set fire to a building housing a cleaning company in the city of Arish, in the North Sinai governorate. More than forty vehicles belonging to the company were also burnt by the assailants. [Baw, DNE & EI]

28. Jan. 25 – An Italian university student was abducted by unidentified assailants from the city center of Qahira.
