Militant Incidents in Egypt (November 2013)

1. Nov. 01 – Gunmen affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood shot and wounded a supporter of the army in Mahalla, in the Gharbiya governorate. [IKC]
2. Nov. 03 – Militants in a moving car opened fire at a police checkpoint near the village of Manayef, in the Ismailiya governorate, killing two officers and wounding a colleague. [AFP, Ahr & DNE]
3. Nov. 04 – A soldier was wounded in gun battles between militants and Egyptian troops conducting operations in the North Sinai governorate. Three terrorists were eliminated in the clashes. [DNE]
4. Nov. 04 – Assailants opened fire at security forces trying to contain rioting supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood in the city of Iskandariya, injuring two policemen. [IKC]

7. Nov. 08 – Gunmen shot and injured a bystander during rowdy demonstrations by proponents of the Muslim Brotherhood in the Omraniya suburb of Giza. [IKC]
8. Nov. 08 – Four people were wounded when gunmen fired at supporters of the army as they demonstrated against the Muslim Brotherhood in Matariya, in the Dakahliya governorate. [IKC]

11. Nov. 14 – Terrorists opened fire at a military checkpoint in Arish, in the North Sinai governorate, injuring a soldier. Three of the assailants were killed when troops intercepted their car as they fled the scene of attack. [Ahr & DNE]

15. Nov. 17 – Gunmen shot and killed a senior official of the Egyptian’s national security department inside his car outside his residence in the Nassr City suburb of Qahira. The ABaM claimed responsibility for the attack. [AFP, Ahr, DNE & SIS]
16. Nov. 20 – A suicide terrorist detonated his explosives-laden car as an army bus passed by near the city of Arish, in the North Sinai governorate. Eleven soldiers were killed and 37 colleagues were wounded in the attack. [AFP, Ahr, AP, DNE, Reut & SIS]
17. Nov. 20 – Unidentified militants hurled a bomb at a security checkpoint in northern Qahira, injuring four police officers. [AFP & Reut]

20. Nov. 22 – Seven civilians sustained injuries when a tram crashed into a cars when it was firebombed by thugs supporting protests by proponents of ousted president Morsi in the city of Qahira. [DNE]
21. Nov. 22 – A woman journalist was assaulted and wounded by thugs as she was reporting on a demonstration by supporters of ousted president Morsi in the city of Qahira. [DNE]
