  1. Jan. 08 – A large group of Bedouin gunmen opened fire at the Egyptian border crossing point of Ouja, in the North Sinai governorate. A border guard and a customs agent were injured in the attack. [Reut]
  2. Jan. 10 – A group of Muslim gunmen attacked several hermit cells of a Coptic monastery, in the Minya governorate, and fired at monks who tried to stop them. One hermit was injured and eight cells were destroyed during the attack. [ICC]
  3. Feb. 04 – Two border policemen were injured in a gun battle between gunmen from the Gaza Strip and Egyptian security forces near the border in the North Sinai governorate. [Reut]
  4. Feb. 25 – A Coptic trader was stabbed to death by Islamists at his jewelry shop in Bashtil, in the Giza governorate. [ICC]
  5. May 01 – Approximately 35 Islamist thugs assaulted and killed a Coptic farmer in Maghagha, in the Minya governorate. [ICC]
  6. May 28 – Two gunmen raided a jeweler shop in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Qahira, and shot to death four members of the Coptic community. The incident was blamed on the LWA. [Reut]
  7. May 31 – A group of about sixty Bedouin attacked a Coptic monastery in the Minya governorate, injuring four Christians. Three monks were abducted and tortured during captivity in an effort to have them renounce their faith. The three hostages were later released, but sustained injuries during the ordeal. [ICC]
  8. Sep. 19 – A group of Darfuri gunmen captured eleven tourists and eight Egyptians during a raid on a safari party in the Gilf al-Kebir region of the Wadi el-Gadid governorate. The captives included five Germans, five Italians and a Romanian national. All hostages were freed ten days later in an operation by Egyptian and Italian special forces. [AP & Reut]
  9. Oct. 04 – One Copt was shot to death by thugs as Muslims rampaged against Christians in the village of Tayeba, in the Minya governorate. Three other Copts were hurt and a pharmacy was destroyed during the violence. [Reut]
  10. Nov. 11 – Bedouin gunmen raided a police post in the North Sinai governorate, capturing 25 of the officers and setting the building on fire. All hostages were released shortly afterwards. [AFP & Reut]
  11. Nov. 13 – A policeman was injured in a drive-by shooting attack by Bedouin gunmen in the North Sinai governorate. [Reut]
  12. Dec. 28 – A border guard was killed and a policeman was injured when HAMAS fighters opened fire at Egyptian security forces who tried to prevent Gazans from crossing the border into the North Sinai governorate. [Reut]
