  1. Jan. 04 – Two Egyptian border guards were killed and ten colleagues were injured in a gun battle with suspected AMB militants as security forces confronted them as they were destroying border barricades near Rafah, in the North Sinai governorate. [Reut]
  2. Jan. 19 – A group of Muslim thugs raided and subsequently burnt a Coptic house church in Udaysat, in the Uqsur governorate. One Christian was axed to death, while a child died of shock during the incident. Two security guards were wounded by the assailants. [ICC]
  3. Feb. 20 – Bands of Islamist thugs rampaged against the Coptic community in the village of Ezbet Wasef Ghalibasha, in the Giza governorate, assaulting and injuring fourteen Christians. Ten houses were burnt by the attackers. [CA]

  7. Apr. 24 – Three bombs exploded successively on a tourist promenade in the town of Dahab, in the South Sinai governorate, killing 23 people. The dead included a German child, a Russian citizen and a Swiss national. At least 87 others, including three Americans, three Britons, three Danish nationals, three Israelis, three Italians, two French citizens, two Germans, an Australian, a Lebanese national and a South Korean, were wounded in the blasts. The attack was attributed to the JTJS.   9. Apr. 29 – JTJS terrorists lobbed two hand grenades at police forces conducting operations on Mount Halal, in the North Sinai governorate, causing no casualties. Two terrorists were eliminated in retaliatory gunfire. [Reut]
  10. May 01 – A policeman was killed and two colleagues were wounded during a gun battle between a group of JTJS terrorists and security forces in the North Sinai governorate. Three of the terrorists were eliminated during the clash. [Reut]
