  1. Feb. 01 – Three police officers were killed in a gun battle with a group of terrorists near Ras Sadr, in the South Sinai governorate. A civilian was caught in the crossfire and killed. At least one of the terrorists was killed in the encounter. [CA]
  2. Mar. 29 – Two tourists from Hungary were wounded in a knife attack by a terrorist in the Khan al-Khalili neighborhood in Qahira. [CA]
  3. Apr. 07 – A nail bomb exploded in the Khan al-Khalili neighborhood of Qahira, killing an American and two French nationals. Eighteen other persons, including four French nationals, three Americans, an Italian and a Turk, were injured in the attack. The bomber was also killed in the attack. The KFIAN claimed responsibility for the attack.   4. Apr. 30 – A suicide bomber exploded at an antiquities museum in the city of Qahira, wounding an Israeli couple, a Swedish man and an Italian woman. Three local civilians were also wounded. The incident was attributed to the KFIAN. [AP & CA]
  5. Apr. 30 – Two female terrorists opened fire at a tourist bus in the city of Qahira, wounding two Egyptians, before shooting themselves to death. The incident was blamed on the KFIAN. [AP & CA]
  6. Jul. 23 – Two massive car bombs exploded outside two resort hotels in the town of Sharm el-Sheikh, in the South Sinai governorate, followed by another car bombing at a nearby market.  A smaller bomb exploded at a beachside walkway. The blasts killed 88 people, including eleven Britons, six Italians, four Turks, two Germans, an American, a Czech citizen, a Dutch national, an Israeli, a Russian and an Ukrainian citizen. At least 136 persons, including thirteen Italians, eight Britons, five Saudis, three Spaniards, an Israeli, a Russian national, a Turk and an Ukrainian citizen, were wounded in the attacks.   7. Aug. 15 – Two Canadian peacekeepers were wounded when an improvised explosive device detonated next to their vehicle near the airport of Goura, in the North Sinai governorate. The JTJS was suspected in the incident. [CA]
  8. Aug. 24 – An Egyptian armored police vehicle was hit in a landmine explosion south of Arish, in the North Sinai governorate, wounding six police officers. [CA]
  9. Aug. 25 – Two Egyptian police officers were killed in a landmine explosion at an undisclosed location in the North Sinai governorate. [CA]
  10. Aug. 27 – A police vehicle was hit in a landmine explosion near Mount Halal, in the North Sinai governorate, wounding a police officer and a civilian. [CA]
  11. Oct. 19 – An Islamist terrorist burst into a Coptic church in the city of Iskandariya, stabbing and injuring two Christians. [CA]
  12. Nov. 15 – Gunmen shot and wounded a woman outside a polling station in the city of Qahira. No further information was available. [CA]
  13. Nov. 20 – Terrorists opened fire at security forces during a counter-terror operation on Mount Halal, in the North Sinai governorate. Three of the terrorists were eliminated. [CA]
  14. Dec. 12 – A group of thugs linked to the Muslim Brotherhood burnt houses and shops belonging to the Coptic community in the village of Kafr Salama, in the Sharqiya governorate. [CA]
  15. Dec. 19 – A terrorist lobbed a small nail bomb in a street in the city of Giza, damaging a vehicle. No one was wounded in the attack. [CA]
