  1. Jan. 04 – A young woman belonging to the Coptic community was abducted by a group of Islamists in the city of Mahalla, in the Gharbiya governorate. She was forced to convert during captivity. [CA & ICC]
  2. Feb. 08 – An assailant stabbed two tourists from Australia and Norway in the Islamic Cairo neighborhood of Qahira. [BBC & CA]
  3. Oct. 07 – A powerful truck bomb exploded at a resort hotel in Taba, in the South Sinai governorate, partially destroying the compound. The blast killed 31 people, including ten Israelis, two Italians and a Russian national. At least 159 other people, including 120 Israelis, eight Russians, two Americans and two Britons, were wounded in the attack. The attack was staged by cadres of the JTJS. [BBC, CA & Reut]
  4. Oct. 07 – Two car bombs exploded at two camping areas in Ras al-Shitan, in the South Sinai governorate, killing three Israelis and an Egyptian citizen. Twelve other people were wounded in the blasts. The JTJS was responsible for the attacks. [BBC, CA & Reut]
  5. Dec. 30 – Muslim thugs assaulted Christians during a raid on a house they believed was being used as a church in Demshaw Hashem, in the Minya governorate. One Christian was killed and two others were wounded in the incident. [CA & ICC]
