Mohammed Ziada was a senior commander of the Islamic State’s Province of Sinai [DaIWS; Dawlat al-Islamiya Wilayat Sina’a] who was responsible for the planning, preparation and execution of many of the organization’s attacks against the army and police in the North Sinai governorate in the late 2010s and the early 2020s.1 He was also linked to the campaign of the DaIWS against the small Christian community on the peninsula.2 Ziada was blamed for the April 2021 execution of a Coptic Christian man who had been abducted by militants of the group six months earlier.3 His responsibilities were not confined to militant activity, he was also reported to be in charge of a part of the DaIWS logistical network.4 Egyptian security forces eliminated Ziada as they intercepted his vehicle in the Batal area of North Sinai on Apr. 19, 2021.5
