Salim al-Daiyut was a shadowy Bedouin jihadi who joined the Assembly of Monotheism and Jihad in the Sinai [JTJS; Jama’at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad fi-Sina’a] in 2002 along with several relatives.1 He was given training and later became involved in preparations for the October 2004 bombings in Taba and Nuweiba as well as the 2005 attacks in Sharm el-Sheikh.2 Daiyut was also believed to have helped plan the April 2006 bombings in the town of Dahab.3 On Apr. 30, 2006, police caught up with Daiyut and eliminated him in a gun battle.4
