Rashid Abu Qasim was a shadowy jihadi from the Reishat Bedouin tribe of the Sinai Peninsula. He eventually became the military chief of the Islamic State’s Province of Sinai [DaIWS; Dawlat al-Islamiya Wilayat Sina’a].¹ Abu Qasim was also involved in overseeing the training of the organization’s fighters.² He was reportedly killed somewhere in the spring of 2017.³ Although the DaIWS reportedly replaced him, his death was never confirmed by the organization.
