Mohammed Fouad (°ca 1980) is a former real estate agent and Islamist from Giza’s Omraniya suburb.1 He is a long-time activist for the Muslim Brotherhood.2 Fouad participated in the massive sit-in protests after the army deposed Islamist president Morsi in the summer of 2013.3 After a while, he sided with Brotherhood elements who wanted to confront the authorities with violence.4 Fouad cofounded the Monitoring and Deterrence Cell [KRR; Khalia al-Rusud wal-Rada] and subsequently served as its leader.5 He personally took part in the attack on the residence of the Belgian ambassador to Egypt in early 2014.6 Fouad was eventually arrested when security forces rolled up the KRR in February 2014.7 In May 2016, a court sentenced him to life imprisonment.8
