Muda’ih Ala’a is a jihadi from the Egyptian governorate of Beni Suef. He was one of the first members of the Partisans of Shari’a in the Land of Egypt [ASAK; Ansar al-Shari’a fi-Ard al-Kinana].¹ In early 2014, Ala’a took part in several attacks against policemen in and around Beni Suef.² He fled to the Sharqiya governorate after the authorities had begun to crack down on the ASAK in March 2014. Ala’a was eventually captured and brought to trial. In 2016, a court sentenced him to two years imprisonment for having insulted the judiciary.³ In late 2018, Ala’a was given the death penalty for his role in the ASAK.⁴
