Muda’ih Ala’a is a jihadi from the Egyptian governorate of Beni Suef. He was one of the first members of the Partisans of Shari’a in the Land of Egypt [ASAK; Ansar al-Shari’a fi-Ard al-Kinana].1 In early 2014, Ala’a took part in several attacks against policemen in and around Beni Suef.2 He fled to the Sharqiya governorate after the authorities had begun to crack down on the ASAK in March 2014. Ala’a was eventually captured and brought to trial. In 2016, a court sentenced him to two years imprisonment for having insulted the judiciary.3 In late 2018, Ala’a was given the death penalty for his role in the ASAK.4
