Iyadh Saleh was a Gazan jihadi based in the Egyptian city of Arish. He was a convicted rapist and worked as a driver before turning to religion in his thirties.1 Saleh joined Khalid Masa’ed’s Assembly of Monotheism and Jihad in the Sinai [JTJS; Jama’at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad fi-Sina’a] and became one of its leading operatives. He oversaw the planning and execution of the Oct. 07, 2004 car bomb attacks against a hotel in Taba and a camping site in Nuweiba.2 More than thirty people were killed in the blasts. Saleh was unable to evacuate in time and died in the explosion of his car bomb outside the Taba hotel.3
