Eid al-Tirawa was a senior operative and explosives expert of the Assembly of Monotheism and Jihad in the Sinai [JTJS; Jama’at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad fi-Sina’a].1 He was involved in planning the 2004 attacks in Taba and Nuweiba.2 Tirawa was reportedly tasked with overseeing the execution of the April 2005 bombings in Sharm el-Sheikh in which more than eighty people were killed.3 He was killed in a firefight with police forces on May 01, 2006.4
