Bika al-Arjani is a Sinai-based Egyptian Bedouin jihadi who serves as the military commander of the Assembly of the Soldiers of Islam [JJaI; Jama’at Jund al-Islam].1 He is a relative of Ibrahim al-Arjani, one of the most senior leaders of the government-allied tribal defense militias that fight against the Islamic State’s Province of Sinai [DaIWS; Dawlat al-Islamiya Wilayat Sina’a].2 Arjani took up his current role following the expulsion of the previous military chief for insubordination in the summer of 2018.3 Reports indicate that he might have influenced elements within the Bedouin tribal militia to ignore or even protect the JJaI in recent years.4
