In February 2016, he traveled to North Sinai in an attempt to join local jihadi forces. He failed to link up with the Islamic State’s Province of Sinai [DaIWS] however and subsequently went on a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia. From there, Abdelaziz was able to travel to Syria where he joined the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant [DaIISh; Dawlat al-Islamiya fi-Iraq wal ash-Sham].1
Abdelaziz later returned to Egypt and became a senior member in the DaIM-IKN. He took part in the planning and execution of the December 2016 suicide bombing at a church in Qahira.2 Security forces arrested him during operations in 2017.3
