Ammar Abu Sabha (°1993) is a jihadi from Hehiya, in Egypt’s Sharqiya governorate. His father headed a Salafi charitable organization and spent fifteen years in prison for his links to jihadi activities between 1995 and 2010.1 Abu Sabha became a salesman of industrial detergent before joining Sayed Morsi and his associates in founding the Partisans of Shari’a in the Land of Egypt [ASAK; Ansar al-Shari’a fi-Ard al-Kinana].2

Abu Sabha closely cooperated with ASAK commander Ahmed Raham and participated in many of the group’s attacks.3 He was responsible for the deaths of several policemen.4 Abu Sabha narrowly escaped elimination when policemen repulsed an attack in Zagazig on Mar. 09, 2014.5 Rahman was killed in the incident. Security forces apprehended Abu Sabha at his home in the village of Mutawa on Mar. 24, 2014.6

Abu Sabha subsequently stood trial in the case against the ASAK. He acted disorderly during the proceedings. At one point, Abu Sabha even threw a shoe at a judge.7 In October 2016, he was given a two-year prison sentence for having insulted the judiciary.8 On Aug. 12, 2018, judges sentenced him to death by hanging for his role in the ASAK’s attack spree.9 His sentence was confirmed in October 2018.10
