Ahmed Abdullah (1979) is a former baker from the town of Abu Kabir who turned to militancy following the 2011 Egyptian Revolution. He was a senior operative of the Partisans and Holy Warriors [AwM; Ansar wal-Mujahideen] and served as a deputy to its leader Adel Habara.1 In 2013, Abdullah, Habara and other AwM members traveled to the Sinai Peninsula to reinforce local jihadis in their fight against the security forces. He reportedly participated in the August 2013 killing of 25 off-duty policemen near Rafah.2 Abdullah managed to avoid capture during the ensuing crackdown on the AwM. On Jan. 09, 2014, police caught up with him in the Matrouh governorate as he was trying to reach Libya.3 A court sentenced him to fifteen years in prison on Dec. 06, 2014.4
