Kristýna Hudková is a Czech woman who converted to Islam as an eighteen-year-old during a stay in Finland.1 She previously had a difficult youth in which she suffered from child abuse and mental problems.2 Following her conversion, Hudková became associated with Prague-based Salafi preacher Samer Shehadeh. He twice married her to Muslims in unrecognized Islamic marriages.3 Both ended in divorce. In 2016, Shehadeh married her over the internet to his brother who had joined the Support Front of the People of the Levant [JaNS; Jabhat al-Nusra li-Ahl al-Sham] in Syria.4

Hudková joined her husband Omar Shehadeh in Syria’s Idlib governorate in April 2017.5 She helped provide funds collected by Samer Shehadeh to the JaNS.6 Hudková learned to use firearms and seemed to have embraced life in Syria.7 She described herself as a jihadi and at one point appeared willing to carry out attacks in Czechia.8 Hudková was sentenced in absentia to six years in prison by a Czech court on Feb. 28, 2020.9 She remains at large.
