Within the movement, Yamoun wielded considerable influence. Well-spoken, he often acted as a propagandist for Sh4B.2 Yamoun also managed the movement’s online activities.3 He was also involved in two episodes of unrest set off by Sh4B followers in the Brussels’ Molenbeek suburb and Antwerp in 2012.4 Following the arrest of Sh4B leader Belkacem in June 2012, Yamoun became one of the operatives who managed the movement.5 After Sh4B disbanded in October 2012, Yamoun started recruiting Belgian jihadis to fight in Syria.6

Yamoun traveled to Syria with his wife and children in December 2012.7 He linked up with other Belgian jihadis operating in the country and eventually joined the Support Front for the People of the Levant [JaNS; Jabhat al-Nusra li-Ahli ash-Sham]. From Syria, he continued to recruit militants from Belgium. In February 2014, Yamoun was killed in combat.8 Yamoun was posthumously given a prison sentence of fifteen years by a Belgian court in February 2015.9
