Enis Sulejmani (°ca 1996) is a Serbian-born jihadi from the Walloon city of Verviers. He received Belgian citizenship as a child.1 As a young man, Sulejmani was unemployed. He became a supporter of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant [DaIISh; Dawlat al-Islamiya fi-Iraq wal ash-Sham]. Sulejmani was in close contact with Iraqi-based DaIISh operative Tarik Jadaoun.2 On Jadaoun’s orders, he made plans to carry out attacks in Belgium and France.3 Sulejmani recruited minors and tried to acquire weapons.4 Together with a Belgian convert to Islam, he made plans to attack a nightclub in Rumes.5 Sulejmani also discussed attacked crowded venues in Liège.6 He also was instructed by Jadaoun to kill an imam from Verviers.7

The authorities were warned of Sulejmani’s activities by the parents of his Belgian associate.8 On Jun. 24, 2016, police arrested Sulejmani at his home in the village of Ensival.9 At the same time, his Belgian companion was apprehended in the province of Hainaut.10 Two other associates were also briefly held.11 Sulejmani refused to attend his subsequent trial.12 Judges sentenced him to ten years in prison on Jun. 13, 2018.13 He was also stripped of his Belgian nationality.14
