Nourredine Abouallal (°ca 1990) was a prolific jihadi from Antwerp’s Merksem suburb. As a young man, he worked as a bartender in a night club.1 In 2010, Abouallal joined the Shari’a for Belgium Movement [Sh4B] and soon became one of its most prominent members.

Following the arrest of Sh4B leader Fouad Belkacem in June 2012, Abouallal emerged as the main spokesperson for the movement.2 He claimed that Belgium was at war with Islam and accused the government of deliberately attacking Muslims.3 At one press conference, Abouallal threatened to destroy democracy in the country.4 In November 2012, police arrested Abouallal following investigations into jihadi involvement by members of Sh4B.5 Upon his release later that year, he traveled to Syria along with his wife and son.6

In Syria, Abouallal joined Houssein el-Ouassaki’s foreign fighters branch of the Holy Warriors Consultative Council [MSM; Majlis Shura al-Mujahideen].7 He was killed in a gun battle with Syrian regime forces in July 2013.8 A Belgian court posthumously sentenced to fifteen years in prison in February 2015.9
