  1. Jan. 04 – Terrorists opened fire at an army truck in the Muang district of the Pattani province, killing a soldier and wounding five colleagues. [BP, MCOT & Nat]
  2. Jan. 05 – Motorcycle-borne gunmen opened fire at a defense volunteers’ post in the Srisakhon district of the Narathiwat province. The wife of one of the volunteers was killed in the attack. [BP]
  3. Jan. 05 – A woman was shot and seriously hurt by gunmen as she was riding home on a motorcycle in the Rueso district of the Narathiwat province. [BP]
  4. Jan. 09 – Militants fired into a karaoke bar in the town of Narathiwat. A bomb fixed to a motorcycle exploded at the site shortly afterwards. Five people were hurt in the incident. [BP, MCOT & Nat]

  12. Jan. 17 – Motorcycle-borne gunmen fired at garbage truck in the Khokpho district of the Pattani province, injuring three collectors. [BP]
  13. Jan. 17 – A retired navy sailor was shot to death by terrorists in the Bannang Sata district of the Yala province. The assailants subsequently bombed and shot up Thai army vehicles as they traveled to the scene. No additional casualties were inflicted. [MCOT & Nat]
  14. Jan. 21 – A village chief was killed and his companion was seriously injured when terrorists raked their car with gunfire in the Mayo district of the Pattani province. [BP]

  18. Jan. 23 – Militants fired shots at a pickup truck carrying children to a kindergarten in Narathiwat‘s Rueso district. No one was hurt in the incident. [BP]

  26. Jan. 30 – Militants detonated a bomb planted in a cart as teachers escorted by defense volunteers passed by in the Johirong district of the Narathiwat province. One volunteer was hurt in the blast. [BP & MCOT]
  27. Jan. 30 – A roadside bomb exploded as an army patrol passed by in Narathiwat‘s Chanae district. Nobody was hurt in the blast. [MCOT]
  28. Jan. 31 – A civilian was shot to death by terrorists as he was riding his motorcycle in the Raman district of the Yala province. [BP]
  29. Jan. 31 – Four soldiers were wounded when militants raked an army jeep with gunfire in the Sisakhon district of the Narathiwat province. The attackers detonated a roadside bomb as other Thai troops arrived at the scene, causing no additional casualties. [BP]
